Smoking Facts - Part 8

Hi,

My name is Mark Tiger, creator of this blog, and of the "Smokers to Non-Smokers" program.  Find out more about the program:

I was totally addicted to tobacco products, mainly cigarettes; and spent 20 years desperately trying to stop smoking without succeeding.

Finally in 1999, I used a method that I had created for myself; and I managed to become a non-smoker.  I have never smoked again since.

In 2005, I decided to share the methods that I had used to successfully become a Non-Smoker, with Smokers who wanted to become Non-Smokers.

After helping over three hundred Smokers to become Non-Smokers, my success rate was a little over 99%.  From this experience I have improved the program, to assist those who are already non-smokers; to remain non-smokers for the rest of their lives.

Smoking Facts – Part 8

Smokers more likely to go deaf
Hearing loss may be yet another health problem caused by a lifetime of smoking.

A five-year study of 4 000 middle-age and older people found smokers almost twice (1.7 times) as likely to be going a little deaf.

Of those ages 60 to 69, 56.4 percent of the smokers suffered hearing loss, compared with 35.5 percent of non-smokers and 47.3 percent of ex-smokers, according to the University of Wisconsin.

Secret smoker numbers shock
A recent survey of 4 000 adults in England
According to BBC News, the survey was commissioned by Boots, a large British pharmacy chain, and it found that 52 percent of the secret smokers hid their habit from their parents, even into adulthood. What's even more surprising is that fully a third kept their smoking habits from their doctor.

And another third said they lied to their family members, some of whom believed they had never smoked or had given it up.

For some reason, the BBC reports, Londoners are more likely to keep their habit secret, followed by those who live in Yorkshire.  No reason was given for this. – (Health Day News)
